Obituary

E.R. Taylor, age 84, of Harrison, passed away peacefully May 4, 2026. He was born on March 23, 1942, in Harrison, Arkansas, to Rachel and Dawthard Taylor. He graduated from Western Grove High School in 1959.

E.R. proudly served in the United States Army Reserve from 1963 to 1969 and spent a period of active duty at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

In 1962, E.R. met the love of his life, Janice Carolyn Edwards. They were married on September 4, 1964, and shared more than 60 wonderful years together. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Todd and Nancy.

E.R. deeply cherished time with his family. The Taylor home was often filled with laughter, especially around the dining room table during lively games of cards and dominoes. As the family grew to include grandchildren, the joy only multiplied—bringing even more laughter, along with spirited Nerf gun battles in the basement that became treasured memories for all.

He loved the outdoors, particularly fishing, hunting, and camping at the lake. He passed this love on to his children and grandchildren, creating a lasting family tradition. Many summer weekends were spent together at the lake, enjoying fish fries, boat rides, tubing, skiing, and plenty of laughter.

In his later years, as his health declined, E.R. found peace in quieter moments. He could often be found sitting on the back porch, reading his Bible or enjoying a good Western novel.

E.R. was a devoted member of Northside Church of Christ, where he faithfully worshiped since 1968. Over the years, he served as both a deacon and an elder. In his younger years, he was dedicated to teaching junior and senior high Bible classes, sharing his knowledge and love of scripture with the next generation. He made it a personal goal to read through his Bible each year, and his faith remained one of the most important aspects of his life—something he instilled deeply in his children and grandchildren.

E.R. was a hardworking man throughout his life. He was employed at Claridge, Foremost Dairy, and later PFG Foods, where he remained until his retirement in 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Ernest and Pearl Dean; his sister, Diane McCutcheon Fuller; his half-brother, Danny Taylor; and his stepfather, Norva McCutcheon.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Carolyn Taylor, of the home; his son, Todd Taylor and wife Tammy of Harrison; his daughter, Nancy Rodriguez and husband Joe of Jonesboro; and his four precious grandchildren, Trent Taylor of Harrison, Ashlynn Biggs and husband Taylor of Harrison, and Chloe and Caden Rodriguez of Jonesboro.

He is also survived by his sister, Teresa Halsted (Kenny) of Harrison; his half-sister, Phyllis McClanahan (James) of Mountain View; his brother-in-law, Mike Fuller of Harrison; his nieces, Kendra Halsted of Centerton and Melinda Davis (Rich) of Centerton; a great-niece, Paisley Davis of Centerton; along with numerous cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 10 AM, at Northside Church of Christ with Steve Powers and Eddie Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Western Grove Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.
