Dorthy June Vanderpool, age 79 of Jasper, Arkansas passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at Harrison, Arkansas.

The daughter of Tom and Pallie (Youngblood) Harris was born October 15, 1932 at Murray, Arkansas.

She was a member of the Jasper Assembly of God Church and loved volunteering at the Christian Food Room in Jasper. She and her husband moved to Holliday, Kansas about 1961 and lived there until the late 80's or early 90's when they returned to Newton County.

Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Pallie Harris; her husband, Rex Vanderpool; two sons, Jerry Vanderpool and Jimmy Vanderpool; four brothers, Rufus Harris, Slim Harris, Marvin Harris and Jessie Harris and one sister, Eileen Manen.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Charlene Vanderpool of Jasper, AR; a daughter, Connie Olinger of Elkins, AR; five brothers, Lonnie Earl Harris of Indiana, James Harris of Arma, KS, Gene Harris of Harrison, AR, Riley Harris and Sonny Harris both of Collins, MO; two sisters, Susie Champlin of Cave City, AR and Elvie Cain of Louisburg, KS; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Stan Harris and James Compton officiating. Burial followed in the Jasper Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.

Visitation was Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were be Jerry Vanderpool, Jason Ricketts, Billy Huskey, James Spears, Justin Vanderpool, and Joseph Carter. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Bristol Pointe Health and Rehab and the members of the Jasper Assembly of God Church.
