IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris Joan
Eddings
July 23, 1937 – August 7, 2024
Doris Joan Eddings, age 87, of Valley Springs, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in Harrison.
The daughter of Alton Crow and Zela (Stephenson) Crow was born July 23, 1937 in Rule, Arkansas, in Carroll County. She was the oldest of 7 children and shortly after she was born, they moved to Searcy County where she grew up. While living in St. Joe, she met and married the love of her life, Will Eddings. Together, they had 6 children. In 1974, they moved to Valley Springs, where she has called home for the last 50 years.
Joan was a hard worker. She spent over 18 years at Levi's (Overman's). She also worked several years at Valley Springs School as a custodian, and home health care after she left the school. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and doing crossword and word search puzzles. She was an avid gardener and loved to spend time growing vegetables and canning. She loved cooking until her health no longer permitted.
Joan was one of the best. The best mother, the best grandmother, the best aunt. When her siblings passed away, she became the matriarch of her family and considered her nieces and nephews like her own. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and loved her family tremendously.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Will Eddings; a son, Alton Eddings; a daughter, Ollie Hatter; an infant son, Frankie Lee Eddings and her six siblings.
Joan is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Delaine and Reta Eddings, John and Sheila Eddings, and Devone and Debbie Eddings; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives that loved her and will miss her.
Funeral service will be at 10 AM, Saturday, August 10 (2024) at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison with Gabe Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Rule Cemetery near Green Forest in Carroll County.
Visitation is Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM at Coffman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Richey Eddings, Tony Blair, T.J. Eddings, Steven Eddings, Matthew Hatter, and William Hatter.
