Doreen Phyliss Shaw, of Omaha, passed away at her home on Monday, May 5, 2025. She was 91 years old.

The daughter of Frederick Thomas and Laura Matilda (West) Powell was born on October 24, 1933 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Doreen Shaw was a woman of many talents and deep devotion. She loved crocheting and knitting, and her skill in the kitchen made her a wonderful cook. Doreen also enjoyed the outdoors—traveling, camping, and fishing were among her favorite pastimes.

In October 1952, Doreen married the love of her life, David Shaw. Together they shared nearly 70 years of a loving and devoted marriage until David's passing in 2022. Doreen was a faithful member of Lakeland Baptist Church in Omaha, where she found fellowship and spiritual strength throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Shaw; one granddaughter, Melissa Shaw; her son-in-law, Larry Courtney; one nephew, Bobby Shaw; and her brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Deeda Powell; four brothers-in-law, William, Edward (Pearl), John, and James Shaw; and two sisters-in-law, Alice Foster and Renie Shaw.

Doreen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Kasandra Shaw; her daughter, Deborah Courtney; and four grandchildren: Kristina (Jeremy) Fuller, Dusty Courtney, Jesse (Lacy) Courtney, and William "Billy" (Shelby) Courtney. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Colby, Carver, Shawn, Avery, Kade, Vinny, and Sonny. Doreen is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Doreen will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Memorial service will be held at Lakeland Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM.  Pastor Carl Garvin will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
