Donna Jean Matthews, age 80 of Jasper, AR, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the Hospice House in Harrison, AR.

She was born September 20, 1938 in Blaine County, Oklahoma and was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Emma Weber.

Donna grew up in Oklahoma on a wheat farm. She attended Business College in Denver. It was while in Denver Donna accepted Christ as her Savior. The Lord led her to a group called Navigators. In Navigators she learned of a secretarial need in Columbia, South America. She began with Wycliff Bible Translators as a secretary for the founder, William Cameron Townsend. Later she worked for 13 years at the center in Columbia, South America, which she called "the most amazing journey of my life."

Donna returned to the States and worked at Wycliff headquarters where she met her husband, Blake. After moving around a little bit, they settled in Jasper, Newton County, AR where they have met and been blessed with their most caring Christian "family." That "family" has been there for Donna and Blake through this trying recent journey.

Donna was involved in many activities: she loved her service and fellowship in the Christian Women's Connection in Harrison as well as being deeply involved in the First Baptist Church of Jasper. Many of Donna's friends were blessed by her homemade cards that she often completed in the middle of the night. The cards were created for each specific person with the Love Donna had for everyone.

She is survived by her husband, Blake Matthews; brother Larry Weber; nieces; nephews; step-children; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Jasper with Brother David Faught officiating.

Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday prior to the service.

Burial will be 11:00 AM, Monday, August 19, 2019 in Bierig Cemetery, Major County, Oklahoma.
