Don Zirbel passed from this life on November 12, 2016 at his home. After many trips to Newton County before his retirement, he moved to Jasper from Sioux City, Iowa in 2003.

Don was a carpenter and used his skills to build a home here. He was a man who always "had a project", and was never content to just relax.

As per his wishes, there will be no services. He donated his body to medical science, in the hope that it may, in some way, help others.

He is survived by three daughters, one son, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don was one of ten children of Alfred and Ruth Zirbel of Iowa. Eight of his siblings survive him. The aforementioned family reside out of state.

Locally, he is survived by Margy Hayden as well as her children, both of Colorado.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother and several other relatives.
