Obituary

Donald Roy "Donnie" Watts, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Queen Creek, Arizona.

Born on April 17, 1948, in Madera, California, Donnie was the son of William C. "Bill" and Alice (Myers) Watts. A proud 1967 graduate of Harrison High School, he went on to complete studies at Harrison Vo-Tech in 1969 with a focus in electronics, and later at North Arkansas College.

Donnie was a man who truly lived life to the fullest. Known for his easygoing nature, infectious laughter, and warm smile, he never met a stranger and rarely said no to a new adventure. He had a deep love for motorcycles, a passion he joyfully passed on to his son Mike. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker, and sharing time over board games and cards with family and friends.

Throughout his life, Donnie wore many hats. He worked as a long-haul truck driver for 17 years and held positions at Batesville Radiator Shop and Banquet Foods. He also contributed to local infrastructure as part of an electric and phone company crew that helped install power and phone lines at Dogpatch, USA. In Phoenix, Arizona, he managed the Lawn and Garden Center at K-Mart before returning to Arkansas to run his own business, Don's Auto Grooming, in Harrison.

Donnie was preceded in death by his beloved sons, Michael Don Watts and Mark Everett Watts; a great-granddaughter, Ivory Jayde Dutton; and his parents.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Sheila Rogers and husband Todd of Harrison, AR; Marty Watts and husband Mike Lara of Russellville, AR; and Samantha Tharp and husband Justin of Alpena, AR. His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren: Aleshia (Austin) Rea, Martin "Eric" Sims, Jr., Courtney (Adam) Coleman, Savannah (Felix) Palomo, Tristan (Jacob) Dutton, Quintin Watts, Andre Mayers, Stephanie Franks, Allison (Noah) Lowe, and Allizabeth McCoy; and 15 great-grandchildren: Kai and Tilly Rea, Tuscany Wallace, Bailee Sims, Braxton Edwards, Charli, Hatti, Kinli, Mazi, and Carli Coleman, Alaya, Aubrey, and Alora Palomo, Chase Jones, and Clayton Franks.

He is also survived by his sister, Brenda Poff and husband Phillip of Desha, AR; two aunts, Runell Preston and Joan Lawrence; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service celebrating Donnie's life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at The House of Prayer Church, 1217 Zinc Road, Harrison, AR 72601, with Pastor Anthony Kinsey officiating.
