Donald Robert Carter, age 66 of Bergman, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas.

The son of Samuel Garfield and Isabell (Gregory) Carter, he was born January 29, 1942 at Marshall, Arkansas.

Donald has lived in the areas of Searcy and Boone Counties most of his life and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of The Revival Center in Bellefonte, Arkansas.

He enjoyed fishing, cookouts, and playing with his dog. He also enjoyed his grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death, along with a son, Donald Ray Carter; and his brothers, Tom and William Clyde Carter.

Survivors are his wife, LaVerne (Altman) Carter of the home; a son, Ronald J. Carter of Marshall; a step-son, Jay Parker and his wife, Ronda of Lead Hill; a step-daughter, Donna Kay Young and her husband, Roy of Bergman; his brother, J.Z. Carter and his wife, Margie of Valley Springs; a sister, Mary Lee Smith of Denver, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Linda Carter of Valley Springs; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Services were Friday, January 23, 2009 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Lampkin officiating. Burial followed in York Cemetery at Bergman.

Pallearers were Chance Reed, D.J. Farmer, Tim Altman, Clarence Stevens, Steve Oliano, and Andy Lampkin.
