Donald H. Petree, age 74 of Harrison, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010.
The son of George Henry and Celia (Scroggins) Petree was born Oct. 15, 1935 at Compton, AR.
He had lived in this area most of his life except a few years living in Orange County, California where he began his plumbing career. After returning to Arkansas, he became a licensed Master Plumber. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict, was a Gunner's Mate (Guns) and then was appointed to Petty Officer. While serving in the Navy, he served on three ships; USS H.W. Tucker (DD875), The Anchor, and USS Floyd B. Parks.
Don was a member of the Elks Lodge for 33 years and the Moose Lodge for 24 years. His hobbies were bowling, playing pool and poker.
His parents preceded him in death along with a brother, Charles Petree; sister, Sharon Carlile; a nephew, Bobby House; a niece, Angela Petree; a sister-in-law, Charlene Petree; and an uncle Raymond Scroggins.
Don is survived by his wife, Audrey Petree of the home; two step-sons, Jimmy Flint of Bentonville, and Jimmy Campbell of Mt. Judea; five step-daughters, Tammy Briett, Lilly Mayon, Annette Hunnicutt, Lynette Campbell, Laura Fowler and her husband, Tim all of Harrison; a sister, Christeen House and husband, Argie of Harrison; a brother and his wife, Howard and Kathy Petree of Harrison; 13 step grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Petree and her daughter, Vickie Petree of Bixby, OK; a special aunt, Ethel Adams of Conway; a double 1st cousin, Danny Scroggins of Columbia, MO; and a 1st cousin and his wife, Paul and Faye Scroggins of Compton.
Service was Monday, Feb. 1st Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Dr. Joe Bass officiating. Visitation was open. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Elks Lodge.
Cremation followed.
