Donald L. Gillon, Sr., age 73 of Harrison, AR passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison.
The son of Stephen John and Betty Elizabeth (Williams) Gillon, was born June 8, 1933 at Lake Lassen, CA.
He was a veteran in the U.S. Marines during WWII. He had retired from Campbell Soup Company after working for them many years and had worked at Tyson's. He enjoyed working, was a very tough Marine, and a very loving family man.
His parents preceded him in death, along with a son, Monte Lee Gillon; brothers, Ernest Gillon and Stanton "Skip" Edward Gillon; a sister, Barbara Penry; and a niece, Sandy Gillon.
Survivors are his wife, Shirley Ann Gillon of the home; children, Donald "Little Don" Gillon and wife, Emma of Harrison; Irene Roberts and husband, Stanley of Harrison, Maryanne Gillon and husband, Richard Hopper of Alpena, Steven John Gillon of the home, Rickey Lynn Hunt of Sacramento, CA, and Letricia Burrrell of Harrison; grandchildren, Aaron Roberts, Mellissa Sublett, Elliot Lee Gillon Hopper, and Douglas Paul Nelson; and a great granddaughter, Dana Nelson.
Graveside service was Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Denning Cemetery with Rev. Tollie Sutterfield officiating. Pallbearers were Irene Roberts, Rufus Daniels, Donald "Little Don" Gillon, Steven Gillon, Elliot Gillon Hopper, Steve Webb, Whitney Parlocha, and Aaron Roberts. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Burrell, Nickey Hunt, and Rickey Lynn Hunt.
