Mom,

First and foremost, thank you for teaching me how to love. From my oldest memory up to your dying day, you have always showered me with love.

Because of you I love myself and am able to love others.

Thank you for always in believing in me and for your unending support and encouragement, even when I was scared or full of self-doubt.

Because of you I believe in myself and know I can instill this encouragement for others around me.

Thank you for showing me what work ethic, drive, determination, and dedication means, and I am grateful to be the beneficiary of these traits. I watched you raise two children and two grandchildren as a single mother that always worked that extra shift and the many times you worked two jobs to ensure that not only, we never went without, but somehow managed to spoil us.

Because of you I know what hard work, drive, determination, and dedication can accomplish, as you personified this in everything you put your mind to.

Thank you for these things and so much more.

Because of you I understand the importance of honesty, respect, integrity, humility, spirituality, kindness, compassion, music, art, dance, literature, science, perseverance, truth to oneself, friendship, kinship, and to live to its fullest.

Thank you for your gratitude.

Dona's favorite scripture:

Psalm:23

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul:

He leadeth me in the paths of

righteousness for His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;

Thou anointest my head with oil;

My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
