Obituary
Don Young, age 69 of Harrison, passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 18, 2007.
He was born at Pindall, Arkansas on September 4, 1937, the son of Blaine and Irene (Nichols) Young.
Don was a life-time resident of this area and of the Christian faith. He was the executive director of Ozark Opportunities, Inc. for 33 years and continued farming after retiring.
He was a member of the United States Team Roping Championships; University of Central Arkansas Alumni Assoc. and N. Ark. Rodeo Booster Club. He was a former member of the Harrison Round-up Club, an avid team roper and mentor to many. Don is remembered as an outstanding basketball player during high school and college. After graduation, he served as a basketball and football coach for five years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Blaine Young.
Surviving is his wife, Jacque Young of the home; his mother, Irene Young of Pindall; daughters, Donna Young of Hot Springs, Nikki Huckins and husband, Jon of Omaha, Nebraska and Kim Cooper currently of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Billie Norton of Florida, and Joyce Yarbrough and husband, L. D. of Harrison; two step granddaughters, and four nephews.
Memorial service was Thursday, 10:00 AM at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Willis and Billy McCall officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Thomas Sneed and staff of Little Rock, Baptist CARTI of Little Rock, PARTI of Harrison, Dr. Ali Abdelaal, Harrison Family Practice staff, Boone Co. Home Health, Legacy Hospice, other family members and many, many friends.
