IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delbert
Jones
September 29, 1944 – December 20, 2024
Delbert Jones, of Harrison, passed away at his home on Friday, December 20, 2024. He was 80 years old.
The son of Leon and Leota (Flatt) Jones was born on September 29, 1944 in Magic Springs, Arkansas.
Delbert was a hard worker all his life. As a young man, he worked with his dad and brothers in timber. He also drove trucks for an orchard, a trash business, and M & M concrete. He was efficient and skillful at all of his work. He had a way of making hard work look easy. He learned and perfected his trade of brick and stone masonry as a young adult and went on to build multiple homes in the Harrison area. He left his fingerprint on many neighborhoods as a master mason and builder. He made sure his trade carried over to the next generation by mentoring many young men who became successful masons themselves.
Delbert was a faithful member of the The Apostolic Church of Bellefonte for over 50 years. You could find him leading singing and driving the church bus for many years. He used his building expertise at multiple times through the years as the church grew. Delbert loved God and his family. When his daughters were growing up, he never missed a night praying with them before bedtime.
Delbert had many interests. He was a farmer, breeding Charolais cattle. He became known for breeding gentle Charolais bulls. He loved to fish and we have many memories of wonderful fish dinners where he made sure each fish was fileted just right. He also loved to hunt and brought home deer meat that most of the family enjoyed. One of Delbert's favorite things to do was to go on a long road trip. He loved to see new sights and learn about new things. One of his last sentences was asking Brenda, "Where are we going today?"
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wendall Jones; and a great granddaughter, Joslyn Quiquivix
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janet (Speak) Jones; two daughters, Brenda Jones and Barbara Livingston; three grandchildren, Juleah Quiquivix (Merli), Josiah and Isaac Livingston; three great grandchildren, Meleah, Kyla, and Armani; and brothers, Jim Jones (Judy), Tom Jones (Roxie) and Lonnie Jones (Kay).
