Obituary

David Nathan Sangren, age 91, of Harison passed away at home on June 3, 2025.  He was born in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 19, 1934, to Henry Tor Sangren and Nora Matilda Johnson Sangren.

In 1946 he and his parents moved to Pruit, Arkansas, where he attended school in Jasper.  He married Mary Jean Meginnes on January 3, 1953, and they moved to a 240-acre farm at the fork of the Little Buffalo River and the Big Buffalo River in Newton County that was previously owned by her parents.   In 1957, they moved to Harrison, AR to raise their 4 children.

In 1980, the Sangrens moved to a farm south of Harrison near Bellefonte where he built the home they lived in for 45 years. The farm was a natural haven where they kept an array of cows, horses, hogs, goats, cats, dogs, chickens, turkeys, guineas, peacocks, and geese. He retired from GM in Kansas City, MO as a UAW assembly worker for Fisher Body in 1988.  He was passionate about his cows and working on cars. He was a member of the Boone County Cattlemen's Association and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.

David was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Jean, son Kenneth David Sangren, and brother Henry James Sangren.

He is survived by his children: Susan Jean Sangren of Harrison, AR; Kathy Norene Sparkes (Michael) of Baytown, TX; Larry Charles Sangren of Garland, TX; and daughter-in-law Catherine Ann Sangren of Garland, TX ; his grandchildren Michael Brent Sparkes (Kristine) of Belton, TX; Amy Christine Perkins (David) of League City, TX; Ross Harold Sparkes (Emma) of Friendswood, TX; Catherine Elizabeth Flowers (Charlie) of Beaumont, TX; and Lauren Kristian Cooper (Kevin) of Salado, TX.  He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and niece Karen Sangren Johnson of New Hartford, Connecticut.

A funeral service and visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. The visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by the service at 2:00 pm. Rev. Father Hoover will officiate. Burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Michael B. Sparkes, Ross Sparkes, Dwain Lair, Dana Matlock, Bob Boswell, and Percy Hardy.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Ozark Humane Society, 5147 West Rock Springs Rd, PO Box 542, Harrison, AR 72601.
