Obituary

David Naylor, age 59, passed away at his beloved cabin on Asia Point Road in Jasper, Wednesday, March 18, 2009.

David is survived by his three cherished children, sons, David (age 28) and Chris (age 26); daughter, Ashby (age 23); his father, Billy and brother, Wally, both of Ft. Myers, Florida; a sister, Sue Carlson of Gainesville, Florida; and many, many aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bea Naylor, who passed away in October of 2008.

Having been born and raised in Ft. Myers, David had countless friends in Florida. As a young teenager, David and his brother, Wally formed "The Bees", a rock and roll band. The band entertained southwest Florida teens throughout the 1960's. There was always a place to dance, listen to music and gather with friends when "The Bees" were playing at the family owned "Beehive". The band also performed at fraternity parties at the University of Florida and numerous towns scattered throughout the state. Their original recording, "Shy Boy, was a local hit and was played regularly on the radio.

David joined the Air Force in 1968. He served four years at which time he was stationed in Virginia, Karat, Thailand, and Patrick AFB in Florida.

In the late 70's and 80's, David worked with his family at Naylor Flower Farms in what was then a thriving gladiola business. During that time Fort Myer's slogan was "Welcome to Fort Myers - Gladiola Capital of the World".

While his children were growing up, David was an active, involved father, coaching his sons in baseball and his daughter in soccer. He led his daughter's soccer team to win two championship titled.

David loved horseback riding, reading, music, sports, and was also an avid history buff. In 1998, he moved to the Ozark Mountains and fell in love with the peacefulness and the quiet beauty of northern Arkansas, where he loved and enjoyed the remainder of his short life - growing Leyland Cypress trees.

He will be missed by his children, family and all who loved and knew him.

There will be a memorial service held in Fort Myers, Florida.

Cremation and local arrangements are being handled by Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
