David Douglas
Ganey
January 27, 1949 – April 15, 2026
Deeply, sorrowfully, and heartbreakingly we have lost a great man, father and granddaddy, David Douglas Ganey.
Born in Orange, Texas on January 27, 1949, he peacefully departed from this world in Harrison, Arkansas on April 15, 2026 at the age of 77 from natural causes. Today, we will lovingly remember his life & our memories shared with him.
The eldest son to the late Monk Clyde Ganey & Wilma Guynell Baldridge Ganey, brother to Diana Nell Davidson (Gill) of Livingston, TX & the late Malcolm Lee Ganey, father to Joshua David Ganey (Asylin) of Harrison, AR & Ashley Ann Browarski (Christopher) of West Linn, OR, grandfather to Talan, Ella and Olivia Ganey, and Baby Browarski due in August, as well as uncle to several nieces and nephews. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of family and friends.
He is a Vietnam veteran who voluntarily served 2 years in the United States Navy as well as the United States Army Reserve for many years dedicating his life to not only his nation, but also his family & children. He worked for 43 years at Texaco, Star Enterprise, & Motiva refineries and dedicated his time outside of work as a free mason.
Some of his hobbies included reading, writing poetry, spending time with his children & grandchildren, & taking trips to the Southwest states where he envisioned himself as a cowboy romanticizing life among the old western scenes.
He made a second family at his most beloved restaurant, El Mexico Lindo. Although he may have arrived by himself most times, he rarely felt alone. Once seated at his favorite booth, it wasn’t long before a staff member would slide in the seat across from him to hear valuable lessons in life or funny shenanigans of his youth while he finished a bowl of salsa picosa without a sip of water. He cherished those meals, conversations and the family he made with these wonderful people that held a very special place in his heart.
Like any cowboy, he rode alone but never without purpose. Determined & ever mindful, he walked close in the word of God while speaking praise of the holy words to whomever he could to bring peace to those around him. Along with reading his Bible daily, he affirmed his faith by being saved on December 4, 1977 at Trinity Baptist Church where he served as Deacon.
Proud & humble, he was steadfast in his journey to always learn something new & discuss his findings with an open ear.
He was a romantic at heart but held a firm grip on what he believed in. He loved watching Indiana Jones or old western movies with his family & it was his way of communicating to you who he was through art or his writing for those who would listen.
May you rest in eternal heavenly peace, Granddaddy.
He will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX with full military honors at a later date.
