Obituary

David Edward Edgmon, age 64 of Mossville, Arkansas closed his eyes here in his earthly home for the last time on Thursday, June 6, 2019.

He was born on May 6, 1955 in Harrison, Arkansas the oldest child of John Edward "J.E." and Goldie Mae (Dyer) Edgmon.

David had worked as a truck driver for many years, hauling lumber for F&H Lumber.  He had lived most of his life in Newton County and was a member of the Lone Beech United Baptist Church.

David loved the Lord and loved serving Him.  He was saved on August 11, 2012 during a revival at Mossville United Baptist Church and answered his calling in 2016 to preach.  He was ordained as a minister of the gospel in 2017 just days after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had already spread to his brain.  He never missed an opportunity to witness for the Lord, be it at the oncology clinic or just wherever he had the opportunity.  He was very well respected in the community.  David pastored the Wayton United Baptist Church from September 2017 until May 2019 when his health declined.  He was married to Patricia Gail "Patsy" Criss on August 17, 1974 in Johnson County and they renewed their wedding vows on January 5, 2019 to celebrate almost 45 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gaylene Holt and Judy Kay Edgmon; one brother, Kevin Edgmon; one niece, Jessica Hampton and his grandparents, Jesse and Martha (Watson) Edgmon and David and Verdie (Bledsoe) Dyer.

Survivors are his wife, Patsy; his children, Vanessa and Shannon Gibbins of Compton, Alison and Daniel Klatt of Green Forest and Leann and Kevin Harp of Harrison; his brothers, Marty and Janie Edgmon of Mossville and Kendall and Lacey Edgmon of Low Gap; his sisters, Virdia and Johnny Hampton of Low Gap, Vicki and Jeff Chandler of Rogers and Michele and Joey Fierro of Low Gap; his grandchildren, David Evan and Addieline, Justin and Kelsey, Kevin and Emily, Shayna and Dallas, Jarod and Hannah, Lane and Chase Gibbins; his great grandchildren, Mason, Kenzley, Rilynn, Whyatt Owen and Sadie Mae due in September; three step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren, several aunts and uncles, many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
