Dakota Shane Holsted, age 19 of Alpena, Arkansas passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 in Alpena.

The son of Gary and Jaimie (McGill) Holsted was born on July 18, 1996 in Harrison, Arkansas.

Dakota loved church and was a member of Centerpoint Church. He enjoyed hiking, canoeing and being outdoors. He loved to read and enjoyed playing trivial pursuit, chess and liked robotics. He was an honor student at Alpena High school, was a member of Quiz Bowl and announced ballgames and other activities at the school. He especially loved his nieces and nephews and spending time with all his family.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Shane Holsted; a grandmother, Ruby Lafollette; a grandfather, Alton Holsted and an uncle, Beau McGill.

He is survived by his parents, Gary and Jaimie Holsted of Alpena; 5 brothers and sisters, Amber Holsted of Anchorage, Alaska, Josh Holsted of Alpena, Kyle Holsted of Maurice, Louisiana, Jory Holsted and wife Shannon of Alpena and Carlyn Shirley and husband Richard of Church Point, Louisiana; a grandmother, Joan Holsted of Alpena; a grandfather, Charles McGill of Alpena and a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts , uncles and friends who will mourn his passing.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Alpena Baptist Church with David Bright officiating. The family requests in honor of Dakota that no dark colors be worn, but please wear bright colors in celebration of his life. A dinner will be served before the memorial service at 11:00 am at the Alpena Baptist Church and all family and friends are invited.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to Alpena Baptist Church, AWANA Fund, PO Box 130, Alpena, AR 72611 to help with children's needs.
