Obituary

George Curtis Morrisette, 85, of Marshall, Arkansas peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday January 24th 2019, in Marshall, Arkansas.
The son of Leslie Dean Morrisett and Pearl (Curtis) Morrisett (he added the "e" to the end of his name as a young man so it would "look more French") was born in Armorel, Arkansas. He preferred to be called "Curtis" after his grandfather. Curtis graduated from Edinburg High School and went to college at Texas Tech in Lubbock. He moved to Houston where he worked in the petrochemical and chemical industries until he retired in 1979. He then moved to Marshall, where he made many friends and enjoyed the beauty and wildlife of the Ozark Mountains.
Curtis lived a rich life. As a younger man he liked fishing, hunting, sailing, and flying both a twin-engine Cessna and an ultralight fixed-wing hang glider. He traveled, married and had children, and designed and built two homes by hand. More recently, he enjoyed remodeling his Model T, birdwatching, and reading about paleoanthropology. He was also a lifelong fan of watching Westerns and Star Trek.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother L.D. II, and sister Sandra, his son-in-law Shawn, as well as his first wife Marianna, and his long-time friend Mary Katherine.
Curtis is survived by his three daughters and their families: Nova and her daughter Haven, Kim and husband Anthony and their son Nicolai and daughter Rhyanne, and Adrianna and her son Aiden, who live in Marshall. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him.
In lieu of flowers, please leave any memories of Curtis that you have on the Coffman website at www.coffmanfh.com. Curtis had a great sense of humor and was fond of telling stories. Any stories you would like to share would be greatly appreciated. The family have chosen to have a remembrance during a scheduled family reunion later in the year.
