IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Curtis "Curt"
Lowell Williams
June 14, 1930 – April 5, 2024
Curtis "Curt" Williams, 93, of Bellefonte, AR, passed away on April 5, 2024, with his wife of 71 years by his side.
Curt was born June 14, 1930, in Everton, AR, the youngest of six children to Truman and Dixie (Young) Williams. He graduated from Valley Springs High School in 1949 and married the love of his life, Nina Wagoner, on March 21, 1953.
Curt served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and in the Arkansas National Guard until 1960. He owned and operated the Williams Barber Shop for 29 years, where he made numerous friends and always had new stories to share with customers. He also worked for the Arkansas Highway Police for 18 years.
Curt committed his life to the Lord in 1958 and was a member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church, serving as a youth leader and deacon throughout the years. He was an avid sports lover and spent countless hours supporting his favorite teams – especially the Valley Springs Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Arkansas Razorbacks. He was part of the student crew that helped build what is now the "old gym" on the top of the hill at Valley Springs School. He also organized and coached several youth baseball and basketball teams.
More than anything, though, Curt loved his family unconditionally. He enthusiastically supported his kids and grandkids and was their biggest fan at sports games, performances and special events. His title of "Papa" extended to many outside of his immediate family.
Curt leaves behind his wife, Nina Williams; daughter, Sandra Trammell; son, Steve Williams (fiancée Rita Rogers); and grandchildren, Sarah Hough, Emily (Bryan) Diaz, Trevor (Makensey) Williams, Tyra Morris, and Tinley Williams. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, William and Samuel Hough; Brody, Charlee, and Stella Diaz; Brilee and Saylor Williams; and Unity Morris; as well as several nieces, nephews and other dear family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Cleo Shipman, Eugene Williams, Orvilla Dickey, Naomi Johnson, Della Tabor; son-in-law, Charles Trammell; and great-granddaughter, Maislee Grace Morris.
Funeral service will be at 10 AM Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Pastor Carl Garvin officiating. A military burial will follow at Crawford Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 PM to 8 PM at Coffman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Roger Morris, Trevor Williams, Bryan Diaz, Michael Dickey, Randy Williams, and Donnie Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Charles Trammell Memorial Fund, C/O Valley Springs Foundation, PO Box 640, Valley Springs, AR 72682.
