Connie Jean Gardner, of Harrison, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at The Springs of Harrison. She was 74 years old.
The daughter of Marvin and Mabel (Chastain) Park was born on November 17, 1951 in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Connie devoted her life to education, teaching English from 1985 until her retirement in 2018. Throughout her career, she inspired countless students and was affectionately known by many as their "favorite teacher." Even years later, former students often shared how Mrs. Gardner had gone above and beyond to encourage, support, and believe in them during their time in her classroom. She taught at Westside Christian School in El Dorado, Green Forest School District, Grace Christian School, and spent many cherished years teaching at Harrison Junior High.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Connie was a devoted member of Silver Valley Church. She was also a dedicated and passionate servant of the Gideons Auxiliary, where she faithfully served in numerous leadership roles, including State Chaplain.
Above all, Connie loved her family. She shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Bob, until his passing in 2024. She was a devoted mother to her children and a proud, loving "Mimi" to her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy and whom she cherished with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Gardner; her parents; two brothers, Ed and Jerry Park; and one sister, Kay Roeder.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Jerry and Christy Gardner and their daughter, Shelby; one daughter, Jeanne Reed and her children, Leela and Jaxson; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be at 10:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM both on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at the Silver Valley Church. Pastor Rodney Stromlund and Pastor Jay Scribner will officiate. Burial will follow at Milam Cemetery at Silver Valley.
