Clyde W. Cornwell, Sr. age 82 of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at St. John's Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
The son of Willard I. and Lou Settie (Housley) Cornwell was born March 31, 1928 at Zeber, Missouri.
He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church where he dearly loved to attend. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He had worked for the rescue mission in Wichita, Kansas and also had worked for Miller Hardware for many years.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman and Elmer Cornwell; sisters, Bernadine Davenport and Maxine Billings; and a son-in-law, Steve Scruggs.
Survivors include his wife, Bernadine Cornwell of the home; son, Clyde W. Cornwell, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Duncan, Oklahoma; daughter, Susan Scruggs of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Cherrie Campbell, Paula Moynihan, and Steve Chisum; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a special niece and nephew, Sheryl Crow and Bill Davenport.
He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Dolly.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
Funeral service 2 P.M. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Red Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Crawford and Marvin Wolf officiating.
Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery with pallbearers being J.O. Bullington, Clyde Cornwell, Jr., Paul Groth, Howard Keeter, Don Davis, Clint Campbell, and Larry Mills. Honorary pallbearers are Alvin Pohlence, Guy Gilbert, Robert Ryan, Doug Laughlin, Les Healy, Olin Marshall, Pete Dominguez, and Phillip Dominguez.
