Cleetha Mae Samuels of Mt. Sherman, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at her home at the age of 78.

The daughter of Walter and Ava (Edgmon) Fowler was born on May 22, 1939 at Boxley, Arkansas.

She married Elvin Leroy Samuels in 1957 at Huntsville, Arkansas and they moved to Wichita, Kansas. Cleetha and Elvin moved back to Newton County in 1970.

She had worked for several years in the Newton County Sheriff and Collector's office for Ray Watkins and Jerry Jones. Cleetha attended Boxley Baptist Church and later Buffalo Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elvin L. Samuels; an infant son; one sister Shirley Farmer and one brother Weldon Fowler.

Survivors are her son Ronnie Samuels of Mt. Sherman; three brothers Bobby Fowler of Mt. Sherman, Larry Fowler of Bellefonte and Gary Fowler of Jasper; one sister Connie James of Mt. Sherman; several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Boxley Baptist Church with Billy Paul Matlock, Donnie Villines and Claud Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery at Boxley under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.

Pallbearers will be Vixen James, Joe Paul James, Carey James, Nathan Daniels, Grant Fowler and Denton James. Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Kilgore Vision Center and Dr. Jimmy Justice.
