Obituary

Claudine "Dean" Virginia Cody Owen, age 75 of Harrison, AR passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Hilltop Nursing Center in Harrison. The daughter of Rev. Alvin Eugene Cody and Norma Eloise (Phillips) Cody, was born August 26, 1931 at New Edinburg, Arkansas.

Dean attended Dollarway and Pine Bluff High School. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. An avid reader, Dean was rarely seen without a book and her thirst for learning was an inspiration to others. Her love for reading furthered her knowledge of God, her family and mankind. She studied the Bible, which she loved with all her heart and devoted herself to providing a welcoming home, full of peace, rest and love. Before retiring to Harrison, she was an active member of Forest Park Assembly of God where she loved teaching Sunday School. After moving to Harrison, she attended Liberty Church of God.

She will always be remembered as having a smile and could soothe even the most deeply broken heart. This was evident through her volunteer work at the Suicide Prevention Crisis Center in Pine Bluff.

Additionally, Dean loved her animals, working with her hands, cooking, gardening and simply enjoying family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Joe N. and Elzora (Scott) Owen; her beloved husband, James Enloe Owen which she was married to for 55 years; a daughter, Sandie Owen Pate and a sister, Betty Cody Cummings.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Anne and husband, Jim Henderson of Branson, Mo; a grandson, Marty and wife, Denise Henderson; great grandchildren, Wyatt and Karaline Henderson of Emerson, Arkansas; one sister, Linda Cody Garner; three brothers, Glen Cody and wife, Helen, Herman Cody and wife, Elizabeth, and William "Virgil" Cody; uncles, aunts and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 1:00 PM, Coffman Funeral Home with Dr. Sam Kaunley, officiating (Senior Pastor of The Sanctuary, of Branson, Missouri). Assisting will be Rev. Dave Stallman. They are the Pastors of Jim and Sheila Anne Henderson. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Harrison, Arkansas.
