IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarice
Nichols
June 14, 1923 – March 31, 2019
Clarice Annabelle Hernbloom Fager Nichols, 95, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2019 at Legacy Hospice, Bentonville, Arkansas, surrounded by family. Services will be Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Crossroads Community Church, Harrison, Arkansas at 1:00 pm with Pastor Johnny Walters officiating. Visitation will be April 3 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Crossroads Community Church before the service. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison.
Clarice was born in Bethune, Colorado on June 14, 1923 to David and Edith Hernbloom, the eighth child, and her twin sister, Cleona (deceased in 1988) was the ninth and last child. The family later moved to Stratton and then to Denver, Colorado. She graduated from high school and was preparing to attend Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, but circumstances prevented that from happening. She met her first husband, Vearl Fager, at the Church of God in Denver when he was in the Air Force during WWII. They married and moved to Kansas, where they had 4 children: Joyce (Mosteller), Larry Fager, Judy (Gee) and Joleen (Stout). Clarice worked at the PX at McConnell AFB for 3 years before moving to Tulsa for 2.5 years. They were divorced in 1966. She moved back to Wichita and worked at Robert Hall's Clothing store. While living in Wichita, Kansas, Clarice met Rex Nichols and they were married on March 26, 1971. They attended Pawnee Ave. Church of God while living in Wichita, and they later moved to Harrison, Arkansas in 1988 as a retired couple. They enjoyed gardening and having yard sales. They attended First Church of God in Harrison (which later became Crossroads Community Church) and were active in the church. Rex passed away on December 6, 1999 and Clarice remained in Harrison until October, 2009. She lived with her daughter, Judy and son-in-law Dave Gee until moving into assisted living.
Clarice loved to be with people! She was a great neighbor, enjoyed her quilting club, the JOY club at church, helping serve meals to the homeless and the needy, sewing, reading, her family, witnessing about her Lord and Savior and even participated in Fun Walks! She was a fast walker, as all of her family and friends can attest to!
Clarice is survived by 4 children, Joyce (Mosteller) and her husband Jim of Columbia, South Carolina; Larry Fager of Wichita, Kansas; Judy (Gee) and husband Dave of Goodyear, Arizona; Joleen (Stout) and husband Bill of Bentonville, Arkansas; one step daughter, Tressie Case, 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews in Colorado, as well as a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pawnee Ave. Church of God, Wichita, Kansas and Crossroads Community Church, Harrison, Arkansas, to Legacy Hospice, Bentonville, Arkansas or the Gideons.
