Obituary

Christopher Ross Rogers, age 45 of Western Grove, Arkansas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 13, 2013.

He was born April 4, 1968 in Harrison, Arkansas the son of Quinton and Jo (Mathis) Williams. He served as a Sunday school teacher at Oaklane Freewill Baptist Church in Harrison and at Amazing Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Western Grove where he was most recently a member.

He was a 1986 graduate of Harrison High School and a 1990 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas.

He loved coaching. From Mountain View, Missouri to Western Grove, Arkansas, he carried his charisma and vision to all the athletes he encountered. His long career included working as an assistant football coach for grades 7-12 in Mountain View, heading little league soccer, tee-ball, baseball, and fifth and sixth grade football in Harrison, and eventually coaching pee-wee basketball for grades 4-6, summer league baseball, junior high and senior high track, and senior high basketball at Western Grove Schools.

In addition to coaching, Mr. Chris Rogers was a history teacher at Mountain View, but he truly began his legacy when he started teaching journalism, speech, AP literature, and, most memorably, English at Western Grove High School.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Modell Mathis of Harrison, Ulis and Noble Williams of Bergman, and Bill and Coyeta Rogers of Lead Hill.

He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-four years, Rita (Bowen) Rogers and son, Brandon Rogers of Western Grove and Conway respectively; his parents, Quinton and Jo (Mathis) Williams of Harrison; his sister, Missy Newton and her husband, Beaver and their children, Parker and Jayci of Harrison; his mother and father-in-law, Orpha and Darriel Bowen of Harrison; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Misty and Todd Edwards and their children, Savannah and Jaxon of Harrison, Phillip Bowen of Springdale, Arkansas, Peggy and Garland Young and their children, Tyler and Mikayla of Western Grove; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and students who will miss him dearly.

The celebration of his life visitation was held at Coffman Funeral Home.
