Christine "Chris" Willis Cowdrey passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the age of 86 at Harrison Rehab and Health.
She was born June 15, 1930 to William Edward and Deloris Nelson Bear at Anderson Flat, Arkansas. She attended the Crossroads one room schoolhouse near Pindall. She worked as a waitress in cafes in the Harrison area most of her life, starting at the White House Café as a teenager. She worked for many years in Frank Greenhaw's Bus Station Café and later Dot's Café. Her favorite thing to do in life was to plant flowers and take care of her beautiful yard, of which she was very proud. She also loved to draw and paint pictures of birds and wildlife.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. W. Cowdrey; a daughter, Carolyn Proctor; a sister, Goldie Baldridge and a brother, Buddy J. Nichols.
She is survived by a son, Jack Willis Jr. and wife Terri of Harrison; a daughter, Juanita Moore and husband Mark of Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandchildren Chris Willis of Harrison, Diane Foster and husband Chris of Fayetteville, Sara Moore and Mika Moore, both of Fayetteville; a great-grandson, Wyatt Bowerman of Fayetteville; her sisters, Janis Henderson of Kansas, Merle Jean Munday and husband Tommy of El Dorado, Kansas, Ernestine Mallorene and husband Wayne of Wichita, Kansas; a sister-in-law, June Nichols of Pindall, as well as being missed by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 am at Maplewood Cemetery. Open visitation will be Friday at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison until 7:00 pm.
