Charles was born in New Willard, TX. He graduated from Livingston, TX high school in 1949 and from the University of Houston in 1952.

He gained employment with Amoco in 1952 and worked as an exploration geophysicist until 1972.

He served in the Army from 1953-1955.

Charles married Linda Frances Richardson December 26, 1959.
They had three children, Mark Charles, Steven Kyle amd Laurie Linda.

The family moved near Deer, AR in 1972, and Charles became the Science teacher at Deer. He retired in 1994.

After retirement, Charles and Linda remained in the Ozarks where they enjoyed the beauty of the land, and the goodness of its people.

A memorial service was held Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper.
