Charles Henry Petree, age 77 a former resident of Jasper, AR passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007 at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa.

The son of George Henry and Cecilia Earnestine (Scroggins) Petree, was born January 26, 1930 in Compton, AR.

A fromer assessor and treasurer of Newton County, Charles was also retired from the Arkansas Forestry Commission. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Arkansas State Employees Association, a member of the Lions Club, and active in the Democratic party.

On May 16, 1949 he married the love of his life, Betty Jo Harrison. His greatest joy came from his "three girls": Betty, daughter, Vicki, and granddaughter, Becca. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening, collecting guns, spending time with family and friends, fishing, trading cars, playing with his dachsunds, and puttering around the house and yard.

His mother, Cecilia Petree preceded him in death, along with a sister, Sharon K. Carlisle; a nephew, Bob House; a niece, Angela Petree; his mother-in-law, Pearl Brasel; and a brother-in-law, Jolly Harrison.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo (Harrison) Petree; daughter, Vicki Petree and her husband, Michael Son; granddaughter, Becca Hill; father, George Petree; sister, Christine House; brothers, Don Petree and Howard Petree; father-in-law, Richard Brasel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 19 with memorial service Wednesday, June 20, both at Coffman Chapel in Jasper. Donnie Villines officiated.

Honorary pallbearers were Senator Randy Laverty, Mr. Bud Atkinson, Mr. Robby Borland, Mr. Bill Hudson, Mrs. Delbert Keef, Ms. Pat Tripp, Ms. Pat McVay, Ms. Wanda Hogue, and Ms. Nina White. Special honorary pallbearer was his son-in-law, Michael Son of Tulsa, OK.
