Charlene Smith, 84, of Batavia, AR, passed with peace and grace on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at NARMC.

She was born on April 25, 1935 to Solomon and Goldie Shatswell in Red Rock, Newton County, Arkansas.

Charlene was a devout Christian attending service at Capps Full Gospel Church.  She enjoyed the outdoors, where she would listen to her windchimes, but there was little she loved more than her family and especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She lived her life always beside the love of her life, for 65 years, Clinton Smith.  They had two children, Janet Smith Ricketts and Roger Smith.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents; 3 brothers, J.R. Shatswell, Bobby Lee Shatswell, and George Shatswell; and two sisters, Arvilla Smith and Sue King.

She is survived by her husband, Clinton Smith; her daughter, Janet Ricketts and husband Bob; her son, Roger Smith and wife Nancy; her sisters, Veneta Ellis, Janet Normandin, and Geraldine Smith; and her sister in law, Juanita Shatswell, Pat Shatswell and Inga Shatswell.

Charlene is also survived by her grandchildren, Crystal Norman, J.W. Smith, Jeremy Ricketts and wife Elizabeth, Alisha Hatcher and husband Neil; and her great grandchildren, Randy Smith, Austin Norman, Sha and Shi Smith, Liam Brumfield, Garrett Ricketts, Brooklyn Hatcher, and Maci Hatcher and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends who loved her and will miss her.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, October 18, 2019 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison, AR.

Celebration of life will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Capps Full Gospel Church with Brother Eddie Reed officiating. After which, she will be laid to rest at Sanders Cemetery in Batavia, AR.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ricketts, J.W. Smith, Randy Smith, Austin Norman, Jason Terherst, and Dillon Nichols.
