Sarah Caroline Cone, age 90 of Harrison, Arkansas died Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison.
She was born April 29, 1924 in Jasper, Arkansas.
She was a homemaker and devoted mother of 17. She was a seamstress who made many of her children's clothes and her own dresses. She was a lover of knitting, making many items for her children and grandchildren, and made many hand stitched quilts of which went to her children and other members of her family. She was faithful to her Lord Jesus Christ, writing and singing her songs and poems.
She was preceded in death by her father, W.L. Holt and her mother, Leona (Morgan) Fowler and dad, Charlie Fowler; her husband, Howard H. Cone, Sr.; seven brothers; four sisters; and eight children, Billy Joe, James Allen, Harold, Kenneth, Ralph, Boyd, Floyd, and Joyce Renaye Cone; one daughter-in-law, Angie Cone; several grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors are her children, Carolyn Edwards and husband Carl, Ishmal Cone and wife Diane, J.C. Cone, Wayne S. Cone and wife Yvonne, Howard H. Cone, Jr., Donald Cone and wife Candy, Evelyn Mysinger and husband Jim, Mae Sanders, and Brenda Wahl and husband Eddie, all of Harrison; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Cone of Booneville; brothers, Frank Fowler of Harrison, Clint and Jessie Fowler of Peoria, Illinois, Elmer Fowler of Benedict, Kansas, and Jim Holt of Boynton, Oklahoma; sisters, Ada Franklin of Alabama and Leota French of Combs; 19 grandchildren of the Harrison area and several more in the Wichita, Kansas area; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
Service was Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel with Dale Hale, David Shekels and Frankie Fowler officiating.
Burial followed in White Church Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Geoffrey Dunaway and Dr. Ronald Rubio, the staff of the Hospice House, the staff of Newton County Nursing Home, and the staff of NARMC Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hospice House or Gideons International.
