Carol Sue Villines, of Ponca, Arkansas passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at home surrounded by her family at the age of 74.
The daughter of George Washington Engel, Jr., and Oma Viola (Spencer) Engel was born May 15, 1943 at Kansas City, Missouri.
She was a resident of this area for 54 years, and many childhood summers, moving from Kansas City, Missouri. In Kansas City, she was a member of the Kansas City Cowgirls. She attended 2 years at University of Arkansas and finished her teaching degree with 2 years at University of Missouri in Kansas City.
She attended the Christian Science Church in Harrison. Carol was a retired educator, teaching adult education and first through third grades at Jasper Elementary for 31 years and 2 years at Ponca Charter School teaching special education. After retiring from teaching, she worked 9 years for Arkansas Game and Fish at the Ponca Elk Education Center. She was the secretary/treasurer of Ponca Fire Department for 10 years.
Carol loved the Boxley Valley. She enjoyed hiking, photography, bird watching, and taking her children to the river every day during the summer, and above all, sharing her love and knowledge of the outdoors with her children and students. She was an avid lover of nature and wouldn't even kill a spider. She was devoted to her family, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Oma Engel, a brother-in-law, Paul Schieber, a sister-in-law, Bonita Herron and her father-in-law, Waymon Villines.
Carol is survived by her husband, Paul Villines; her children, Joseph Villines and wife Genevieve and their sons, Wyatt and Jameson; Patrick Villines and wife Mattie, their daughter, June and son, Tell; Jennifer Clark and husband, Danny Ray and their daughter, Kaylee and sons, Tyler and wife Brittany and Samuel; her sisters, Lila Langford and Anne Schieber; her aunt, Jo Alden; mother-in-law, Norma Lee Villines; brother-in-law, Conard Villines and wife Arlene; and many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
Services are Friday at 11:00 AM at Boxley Baptist Church with Bro. Claude Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 AM.
Pallbearers are Patrick Villines, Joseph Villines, Danny Ray Clark, Tyler Clark, Todd House and Scotty Villines. Honorary pallbearers are Conard Villines and Danny Ray Clark, Sr.
