Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Carlton "Corky" Ray Chappell on Friday, September 27, 2024. He was born on November 10, 1944.

Carlton was preceded in death by his mother, Alpha "Shorty" Reese; his father, Troy Chappell; his stepfather, Leonard Reece; his brothers, Eddie Chappell and Larry Joe Chappell; and his beloved son, Douglas Chappell.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 43 years, Dorise Chappell, whom he affectionately called "Nono". Additionally, he is survived by son Larry Chappell of Prairie Grove; daughter, Melissa Shook of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and sons, John and Eric McMillan, both of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who meant the world to him.

Carlton, also known as Corky, retired from Premium Brands, where he worked for most of his adult life. He found joy in fishing on his boat, hunting, camping with his family, and building things with his hands. He also enjoyed playing golf, working out, and walking on his treadmill.

Even in his final days, Carlton found a way to communicate in his usual funny and sarcastic way and express his love for us.

The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and invites you to share laughable and memorable stories at his Celebration of Life, which will be held at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM.  Honorary pallbearers include Larry Chappell, Eric McMillan, John McMillan, Melissa Shook, Gail Sansing, Marie Manning, Blake Chappell, Annette Hart, Brenda Lawrence and Charlene Eckert.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to write down and share your favorite Corky Chappell story.
