Burnard Edward "Tom" Thompson, of Harrison, passed away at his home on Monday, June 29, 2026. He was 82 years old.
The son of Edward Mayo and Ethel Catherine (Davis) Thompson was born on May 4, 1944 in Kirksville, Missouri.
Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army for 22 years before retiring. During his military career, he completed three tours in Germany and served as a Drill Sergeant, a role he took immense pride in. Outside of his service, Tom was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting. He was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and rarely missed an opportunity to watch them play. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed watching YouTube creators such as Fab Rats and 100 Acre Farm. Above all, Tom was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved. His family was the center of his life, and the memories they shared together will be treasured forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian Thompson; and one sister, Mary Nelson.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Pat (Henderson) Thompson; one daughter, Fadra (Chester) Thompson; three grandchildren, Brice (Harleigh) Gresham, Cody (Tyra) Gresham, and Addalyn Gibson; five great grandchildren, Ariel, Amelia, Braxton, Wyatt, and Jamie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
