Obituary

Robert "Bob" Stanford, age 90, of Compton, Arkansas, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 surrounded by his family.

The son of John Harvey Stanford and Janet Edith (Singleton) Stanford was born June 1, 1931 at Hackensack, New Jersey, the youngest of five children. His family moved to Texas and he was drafted into the US Army in 1952.  While enlisted, he served his country during the Korean Conflict.  He was honorably discharged in 1954.  He married JoAnn Flowers and they moved to Newton County June 1969.  When they planned their move to Arkansas, Bob made the commitment to go to church, raise his family in church and get saved.  He was a longtime member Calvary Baptist Church. Shortly after he moved to Arkansas, he began working for the National Park Service, where he loved working with the YACC Summer Youth Program.

Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He loved working on his farm and raising catfish.  He enjoyed watching gospel programs on TV, including Les Feldick Bible Studies, Herman & Sharon show with Dave and Know your Bible on Sunday mornings.

He loved his family and spending time with them.  He especially loved his grandkids.  He loved singing with them and making up silly songs.  To his grandkids, he will always be "The wisest man since Solomon".

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Harvey John Stanford and Harry Stanford, sister, Edith Bandy; an infant son, William Ray Stanford, granddaughter, Amber Cross, infant grandson, Chad Allen Stanford and a nephew, Stanley Stanford.

Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, JoAnn Stanford and two children, James Alan Stanford and Donna Sue Lippe; a sister, Muriel Phelps; four grandchildren, Nathan Campbell, Bridget Williford, Tasha (Rob) Criner and Amber Kidwell; twelve great grandchildren, Micah Chance (Devan) Williams, Mariah Williams, Julius Scott, Jr., Brayden Moore, Carleigh Campbell, Kylee Criner, Journey Reeves, Natalee and Josiah Campbell, Jaxson Williford and Dylan Criner; six great-great grandchildren, Kimberlyn Williams, Kinsley and Karter Lewis, Blakely Williams, Kannon Hutchins and arriving in July, Wrenley Williams; nieces and nephews, Mark (Christy) Stanford, Jean Patterson, Barbara (Wiley) White and Ruth Ann (Kirby) Eastep and a host of extended relatives.
