Billy Ray Henson, 84 of Mount Judea, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville, Arkansas surrounded by his family.
The son of John and Mirl (Greenhaw) Henson was born March 27, 1935 at Cave Creek, Arkansas.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Newton County and had worked many years at Harrison Furniture. He attended Bethlehem Church and he and his wife traveled to churches all over Newton County visiting many congregations.
He loved working with wood and was his family's "weatherman", and keeping them alerted any serious weather conditions. He was constantly by his wife's side and always helped her with housework, but he did look forward to supper time every day. Bill loved to pester and cut-up with his grandkids. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved to be at home and have his family together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a son-in-law, Paul Standridge.
Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Genell Henson of the home; four daughters, Connie June Middleton and husband Terry of Mount Judea, Donna Jean Standridge and Tenna Elaine Henson both of Harrison and Tinnie Genette Goodall and husband Jack of Western Grove; two brothers, Kenneth Henson of Mount Judea and Arbie Lee Henson of Hutchison, KS; two sisters, Mae Canady of Oran, MO and Mildred Chisum of Hector; eight grandchildren, Margo Hunt (Donny), Dusty Middleton (April), Dewayne Standridge, Amondo Schilling, Tyler Goodall, Jaclyn Goodall, Cody Middleton (Stephanie) and Hope Freeman (Travis); eleven great grandchildren, Gage, Gavin, Tristan, Sydney, Hunter, Olivia, Wade, Ava, Macy, Madalyn and Jaden and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Evangel Assembly of God in Western Grove with Rev. Dorvin Ricketts and Bro. Kenneth Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Judea Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Harrison.
Pallbearers are Travis Freeman, Amondo Schilling, Dusty Middleton, Cody Middleton, Donny Hunt and Jack Goodall.
Honorary pallbearers are Terry Middleton, Tyler Goodall, Dewayne Standridge, Gage Freeman and the staff and nurses of Washington Regional Medical Center.
