Betty Jean Wymore, of Alpena, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the age of 82.

The daughter of Charles and Ruth (Peterson) Mussman was born on November 22, 1938 in Denver, Colorado.  She married Thomas Wymore on September 8, 1957 and spent 20 years as a military wife moving from base to base.  They settled in Alpena, and she has been a resident there for the last 40 years.  Betty and Thomas were married 57 years when he passed away in 2015.

Betty was a member of Alpena Baptist Church.  She loved her church and worshipping with her church family.  She enjoyed traveling, deep sea fishing and playing bunco with her friends.  She was giving, honest, quick witted and outgoing.  She loved her family fiercely and was very protective of them.

Betty was an Alumni of College of the Ozarks, graduating in 1957. She opened the Rag Barn in Alpena in 1973 and operated in until 2011, when her granddaughter took over the business.  She was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Wymore, a daughter, Teresa Nichols and son-in-law, Pete Nichols and a brother, Richard Mussman.

Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Trena and Brian Johnson; a brother, Fred Mussman and wife Mary; a sister-in-law, Doris Mussman; four grandchildren, Darrell Huddleston, Sara Carlisle and husband Gabe, April Lewin and husband Kendall and Tim Johnson; seven great grandchildren, Mykhol, Autumn, Brooklynn, McKenzie, Reid, Oliver and Cora Jean and a host of extended family and many close friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.

Funeral service will be at 10 AM, Monday, October 18, 2021 at Alpena Baptist Church with Pastor Justin Knight officiating.  Burial will follow at Alpena Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 PM – 5 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
