Betty Jean Vail, 81 of Harrison, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Cox Medical Center in Branson.
She was born in Oakfield, Maine on January 8, 1939 to parents Burnham and Helen (McKee) Allen. She was a member of Alpena First Baptist Church.
Betty enjoyed shopping, knitting and traveling. She was an active volunteer at church, always eager to help when she could. She had a big heart and put a smile on the face of everyone she met. She was a fantastic wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her blended family equally and was loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Roland Allen, grandson, Jeffery Tillman, her mother and father-in-law and a brother-in-law.
Betty is survived by her husband of 36 years, Johnny Vail; three sons, Mark Gunter and wife Robin, Bryan Gunter and wife Cynthia and James Vail and wife Michelle; two daughters, Kathy Smith and husband Bill and Anne Vail; her sister, Joyce Durepo and husband Ted, sisters-in-law, Jody Allen, Barbara Parker and husband Jimmy and Janice Vail; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 11 AM, Monday, June 29, 2020 at Alpena First Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at Auman Cemetery in Alpena.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10 AM to 11 AM at the church.
Pallbearers are Bill Smith III, Derek Tillman, Jonathan Gunter, Adam Kirkland, Josh Troup, Don Anthony and Mercedes Rugart.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Betty's memory be made to Alpena First Baptist Church, PO Box 130, Alpena, AR, 72611.

In compliance with the Arkansas Department of Health for COVID-19 and State Phase 2 Directives for funerals and visitations at the funeral home/church are limited to a 2/3 capacity of the facility. All attendees over age 10 are required to furnish and wear a mask.
