Betty Lou Barksdale, age 77 of Deer, Arkansas passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Jasper.
The daughter of Harley and Jessie (Collins) Houston was born February 25, 1936 at Pruitt, Arkansas.
She had worked as a cook for the Jasper School and Newton County Senior Center. She had lived most of her life in Newton County.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Bill Houston, Snow Houston, Dallas Houston and Paul Houston; one sister, Gladys Hopes; three children, Pamela Cross, Terry Norman and Kathy Casey and a great-grandchild, Warren Compton.
Survivors are one daughter, Harlene Shaddox of Marble Falls, AR; two sisters, Imogene Keeton and Reba Faulkenburg both of Marble Falls, AR; three grandchildren, Sheri Faulconer, Sarah Casey and Tonya Norman; two great-grandchildren, Rusty and Tyler Compton. She is also survived by extended family, Frank Barksdale and Mark and Karen Casey.
Visitation was Friday, December 27, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper. Graveside service was Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Shaddox Cemetery at Pruitt.
Cremation arrangements have been handled by Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.
