Obituary

Bertha F. Coffman, age 95 of Benton, formerly of Harrison, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Bryant Healthcare Center in Bryant, AR.

The daughter of George Kirby and Euna Parker Dobbs, was born February 16, 1912 near Yellville, AR in Marion County.

She was a graduate of Harrison High School and Draughns College. She retired from the Coffman & Coffman Rexall Drug Store, which she and her husband, Dr. J. Raymond Coffman, operated and owned in Harrison. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harrison. She was a 60 year member and Past Worthy Matron of both Harrison Chapter 25, in Harrison, and Electa Chapter 29, in Bellefonte, of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had also served as Grand Esther. After her retirement she served twenty years as a "Pink Lady" at the North Arkansas Medical Center in Harrison. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of over 55 years, Dr. J. Raymond Coffman.

Survivors are her son, Major George K. Coffman (AHP-Ret.) and his wife, Janice of Benton; two grandsons, Jonathan Parker Coffman and his wife, Karla of Conway and Dr. Christopher D. Melton and his wife, Susan and two great granddaughters, Brooke Melton and Riley Melton, all of Little Rock, AR.

Graveside service was held Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Maplewood Cemetery with Rev. John Darnell officiating.
