Obituary
Bennie Gene Stills, Sr., age 84 of St. Joe, Arkansas passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Highland Court Nursing & Rehab in Marshall, Arkansas.
The son of Elisha Andrew and Nellie Alberta (Mays) Stills was born at Duff, Arkansas on August 10, 1931.
A lifelong resident of the Duff Community near St. Joe, Bennie was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Navy and a member of the St. Joe American Legion Post 198. After the war, he spent 10 years in Wichita, Kansas working for Beech Aircraft and when he returned to Arkansas, he worked as a guide on the Buffalo River for Coursey Meats, at Harrison Furniture and for the last 15 years before his retirement, working as custodian at St. Joe Schools. He loved fishing and playing bingo at the legion hut.
He was preceded in death by his lifelong companion, Bettye M. Stills on August 22, 2015; 3 brothers, John "Toots" Stills, Howard Stills and Mayes Stills and 1 sister, Lavina Baker.
Bennie is survived by his children, Bennie Still, Jr., and wife Jeannette of Bergman; Claudie Glenn and husband Larry of St. Joe; Howard Biggers of Duff and Terri Jones and husband Dave of Little Rock; 5 grandchildren, Richard Joe Glenn, Thomas Andrew Glenn, Tonie Jones, Randall Tucker and Kayla Smith; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing.
Graveside services and interment will be held Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Osborne Cemetery with Mike Drew officiating. There will be no visitation.
Pallbearers are Joe Glenn, Andrew Glenn, Randall Tucker, Dan Smith, Dave Jones and Dexter Baker.
