IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arlis
Eddings
March 30, 1940 – December 13, 2024
Arlis Eddings, of Hasty, passed away at his home on Friday, December 13, 2024. He was 84 years old.
The son of Walter and Clara (McCutcheon) Eddings was born March 30, 1940 at Cave Creek, Arkansas. He was a lifelong resident of Newton County and a 1956 graduate of Western Grove High School. He had been a longtime member of Western Grove Church of Christ. Arlis was drafted into the US Army during Vietnam and was honorably discharged.
Arlis worked as a diesel mechanic for many years. In his spare time, he still enjoyed tinkering with vehicles, and he loved working on stuff. He was very giving with his time and loved to help people when they needed a mechanic. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and helping his son on the farm. Arlis was a great man, and a great friend, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glennis Eddings; his parents; two sisters, Shirley Marshall and Tommie Stewart; grandson, Tyler Vancuren; and a brother-in-law, J.W. Farmer.
Arlis is survived by his son, Michael Eddings (Kim) of Western Grove; two daughters, Kim Stephens (Danny) of Hasty and Kellie Vancuren (Randy) of Harrison; three brothers, George Eddings (Charlotte), Alan Eddings (Betty), and Bill Eddings; six grandchildren, Hailey Smith (Landon), Zach Eddings, Jacob Eddings, April Middleton (Dusty), Rusty Stephens (Jill), and Talon Vancuren (Casey); four great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Ricky Stewart; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Raulston (Junior), Glenda Farmer, and Colene Brown; his long-time caregiver, Mary Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many dear friends.
2 Corinthians 5:6-8 - So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. (NKJV)
