Alyssa Paige Slape, age 17 of Compton, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008. She was born at Fayetteville, Arkansas on May 5, 1991, the daughter of Keith Nathaniel and Angela Kay (Ake) Slape.
Paige was an honor student at Jasper High School, where she was to be cheerleader captain for the 2008-2009 school year. She won the 2007-2008 FFA County showmanship with goats and was a member of the Jasper FFA Student Council. She was also a member of the Key Club Student Council, Beta Club and was president of Jasper FBLA, vice president of the Junior Class, FCCLA Senior High Parliamentary Procedure district and state champion and was student of the week twice. She had lived in Newton County for 11 years and was a member of the Hilltop Church of Christ.
Her maternal grandfather, C.D. Ake preceded her in death.
Survivors are her parents, Keith and Angela Slape of Compton; one brother, Kent Slape of Compton; her grandparents, Arvin and Anna Marie Slape of Compton and Linda Moore of West Fork, Arkansas; aunts, uncles and cousins, Tim and Gayle Slape, Daniel and Clara of Compton, Tina and Greg Farmer and Cami of Harrison, Dawn and Terry Oeleis, Kim, Kendra, Christian and Anthony of West Fork, Nolan and Rachel Ake, Cole and Delaney of Prairie Grove; her boyfriend, Cody Lynn Lackey of Low Gap; several great aunts, great uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper. Funeral services were, Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Jasper High School Gymnasium with Kelly Woods officiating. Burial followed in the Plumlee Cemetery at Compton under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.
Pallbearers were Codie McKnight, Aaron Carter, Spencer Bolte, Josh Farmer, Cody Johnson, Taylor Genz, Logan Genz, and David James. Honorary pallbearers were Jasper High School Class of 2009, Jasper High School Cheerleading Squad, Hilltop Church of Christ Youth and Courtney Luneau.
