Alma Sue Mathis, age 72, of Harrison, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2022, at her home.

The daughter of Alson Burr and Susie (Ramsey) Burr was born September 1, 1949 in Harrison.  She was a resident of Boone County her whole life and worked at Emerson Electric/White Rodgers for 18 years until she retired.

Alma loved watching her birds, and planting flowers.  She enjoyed cooking, collecting things, going to yard sales and thrift stores.  She loved her family fiercely, and was quick witted, and funny.  She treasured spending time with her friends and family.  Alma was a great wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend.  She fought hard until the end and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry Mathis, and a brother, Henry Burr.

Alma is survived by her son, Jim Mathis (Shylah); daughters, Shawna Clement (James) and Kelli Melton; two brothers, Everett Burr (Dee) and Frank Burr (Betty); three grandchildren, Nick Cox (Hannah), Delaney Cox and Kaitlynn Melton; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many dear friends.

Celebration of Life Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 2 from 5 PM – 7 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.

Burial will follow at Western Grove Cemetery at a later date.
