Obituary

Allen M. "Al" Pierce, age 72, of Valley Springs, Arkansas passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023 at home with his family by his side.

The son of T.J. and Betty (Boyle) Pierce was born March 25, 1951 in Flint, Michigan. He moved to Arkansas in the early 1960's and graduated from Harrison High School in 1970.

Al was an active member of First Baptist Church Valley Springs for many years, serving in many roles. He retired from Pepsi after working there for over 30 years. He was a valued part-time employee at Coffman Funeral Home for the past 20 years.  He also worked part-time at the First Christian Church after he retired.

"Big Al" loved to go hunting and fishing.  He especially loved spending time with his grandkids.  Al was a very loving husband, dad, and Gramps. He was a great provider and caregiver to his family and loved them tremendously.  Al loved to laugh, and he liked to joke around and visit with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, T.J. Pierce, his mother and stepfather, Betty and Homer Wright; two sisters, Nancy Hubbard and Georgia McElyea; two brothers, Aurthur Pierce and Charlie Pierce; and two brothers-in-law, Bruce Ray and Jerry Ray.

Al is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karon Pierce, of the home; his sons, Charlie Pierce (Hollie) and John Pierce (Andrew); 3 grandchildren, Scout Teague, Milly Pierce-Douglas, and Pepper Pierce-Douglas; 4 sisters, Norma Ray, Kath Ray, Bobbie Vansandt (Joe), Jeri-Marie Riggins (Steve); a brother, Tom Pierce; sisters-in-law, Judy Pierce and Laure Pierce; brother-in-law, Henry Hubbard; his mother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mary Pond and Wanda Pond, both of the home; his exchange student, Stefan (Linda) Coskun, that he considered a son; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many extended relatives and dear friends who loved him and will miss him.

Celebration of life will be at 10 AM, Friday, October 6, 2023 at First Baptist Church Valley Springs with Bro. Carl Garvin and Bro. Sean Milliken officiating.
