Obituary

Alene Elizabeth Campbell, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma went home to be with Jesus on March 8, 2018 at the age of 84.  She was born April 11, 1933 at Stigler, Oklahoma the daughter of John and Pearl (Moseby) Johnson.

Alene was a faithful wife, loving mother, sister and grandmother.  She was a very talented singer, which she loved to do very much.  She and her husband, Boyd sang at church, nursing homes, community places, and at many funerals for family and friends.

Alene and Boyd bought a farm in St. Joe, Arkansas and raised their family.  She worked at the shirt factory in Marshall for several years.  She left that job to stay at home in 1986.  As her health declined, they moved to Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed spending her last years near her sister and family.  She was always smiling and happy to see visitors when they came.  She was a very humble, hardworking and supportive wife.  She loved to read and do puzzles for relaxation.  She was a spectacular cook.  She enjoyed going to church.  Alene was anxious to go and be with Jesus in her final days and be with family and friends that had gone on before her; especially her beloved son Tony and her former preacher at St. Joe Baptist, James Dorphus Smithson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony (Tony) Ray McGlothlin, her parents, her brothers, Alec, Jerry, Ray, and Rueben Johnson and an infant brother, John, Jr.

Alene leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Boyd Campbell of the home; a son, Jim B. Campbell (Floella) and a daughter, Connie Baker (Rick) all of St. Joe; four grandsons, Rocky Baker, Jacob Kyle Baker, Joel Campbell and Daniel Campbell; one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Campbell; two sisters, Juanita (Nita) Mitcham of MN and Yvonne Clark of Muskogee, OK; two brothers, Larry Johnson of Stigler, OK and Herman Johnson of Tulsa, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.  She will be missed down here on earth, but is rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at First Baptist Church of St. Joe with Pastor Terry Knapp officiating.  Burial will follow at Osborne Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Pallbearers are Rocky Baker, Kyle Baker, Joel Campbell, Daniel Campbell, Kevin Clark and Rick Baker.
