Albert Jae "Slugger" Dearth went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30, 2024 in Harrison, Arkansas at the age of 77.
The son of Albert and Frieda Dearth was born on September 14, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Albert lived in Des Moines, Iowa for many years after marrying and having two children. He started out working for Highland Dairy, then went to John Deere and later found his calling as a mechanic at a local dealership.
Albert was a born again Christian and raised his family with strict faith-based values. He enjoyed working on older cars, watching football, fishing, camping, and putting together model cars. Albert was a loving father and such a joy to be around. The last several years he started to enjoy working on puzzles with his longtime girlfriend, Neva, whom he dearly loved for over 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Frieda Dearth; grandparents; uncles; aunts; niece; and nephew.
Survivors include his son, Curtis Dearth; his daughter, Annette (Steve) Hughes; brother, Jerry Dearth; sisters, Mary Ann Butts, Connie Murphy, Wendy Aplin, and Toni Kilgore; grandchildren, Heather (Jacob) Crawford, Dylan (Makayla) Hughes, Marissa Hughes, and Darion (Nikolle) Dearth; great grandchildren, Madison and Isaac Crawford, Elijah and Taitum Hughes, and Malikai and Silas Hughes; and special "family", Neva Bohannon.
Memorial service will be held at Red Oak Baptist Church in Harrison, on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
