IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ada Elizabeth
Chaffin Michael
June 6, 1941 – June 22, 2023
Ada Elizabeth Chaffin Michael, of Harrison, stepped into the presence of her Savior on Thursday, June 22, 2023. She was 82 years old.
The daughter of Clarence and Georgia (Buttram) Wellesley, she was born on June 6, 1941 in Jane, Missouri. Ada attended White Rock School in Jane, Missouri.
Ada was a faithful member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved her church family and greeted each person with her beautiful bright smile. She made each person feel loved, cared for, and at home at Eagle Heights. Ada spent many years serving in the children's ministry at Eagle Heights. She loved children dearly and had compassion for each child.
Ada was known to most as "Memaw." She enjoyed time with her family and friends and especially holding her many great-grandchildren. She greeted each child in her family with an "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." She would often have her arms full of great-grandchildren and she referred to each of them as "Memaw's honey." Ada was always happiest when her house was full. Her hospitality and delicious cooking were a gift she gave to so many!
Ada loved the Lord and put her full faith and trust in Him. She desired for everyone to have a relationship with her Savior, as she did.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Georgia Wellesley, her husbands, Jack Chaffin and Jackie Michael, one sister, Della Moreman, two infant brothers, Gerald and Carl Wellesley, and a son-in-law, Mike Tougaw. A great grandson, Caden David Tougaw, went to be with Jesus shortly after she passed, and no doubt she is loving on him and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren in heaven.
She is survived by her sisters, Bonnie Hardy, Tressie Wellesley, Freda Schlessman (John), daughters, Cindy Tougaw, Teresa Gibson (Greg), her sons, Doug Chaffin (Karen), Gerald Chaffin (Dione), her grandchildren, Deena Dillard (Dan), Kayla Prouty (Jason), David Tougaw (Arielle), Kanon Tougaw (Kayla), Somer Lookingbill (James), Brianna Johnson (Corey), Katelynn Ricketts (Cody), Julia Chaffin, Ethan Chaffin (Ciara), Lindy Chaffin, Jana Chaffin, Evan Chaffin, Lexi Chaffin, Ellie Chaffin, Cody Chaffin (Deborah), Cami Chaffin, her bonus children, Brenda Haggard (Lloyd) and their daughter Jordan Haggard, Kelly Michael, Curtis Michael (Michelle) and their daughters Sydney and Shelby.
