Abbie May Brantley, age 92 of Harrison, Arkansas passed away February 19, 2012 at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison.
Abbie was born December 31, 1919 in Yardell, Arkansas a daughter of Dan and Artie (Willis) Wallis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irven G. Brantley of Alzada, Montana. They married February 27, 1939. She was the last surviving child of nine siblings; three sisters, Merle Kilborn, Lessie Harp and Annie Robinson and five brothers, Andrew Wallis, Aquila Wallis, Guffrey Wallis, Jeffrey Wallis, and Aubrey Wallis. Abbie was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter-in-law, Susie (Scott) Brantley.
She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed quilting, visiting art museums, seeing others create artwork as well as taking care of any cat that happened to visit her home. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She had many friends from diverse backgrounds. She was known to say goodbye with a unique "See ya in the funny papers".
Abbie is survived by three children, Velta (Brantley) Zoeller of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, James Brantley of Harrison and Gene Brantley of Harrison. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Darlene (Crase) Lundeen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Teresa (Crase) Phillips of Cashion, Oklahoma, Lesley Crase of Oklahoma City, Jay Brantley of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Scott Brantley of Harrison; nine great-grandchildren, Nikki Crase of Cashion, Kristin Cone of Harrison, Weston Vidaurri of Cashion, Charles Lundeen III of Oklahoma City, Catherine Brantley of Fayetteville, Rachel Lundeen of Oklahoma City, Tianna Brantley of Harrison, Vivian Brantley of Fayetteville, and Dakota Brantley of Harrison; and one great-great-grandchild, Griffin Crase of Cashion.
Visitation was Friday, February 24, at Coffman Funeral Home, Harrison. Funeral service was Saturday, February, 25, at St. John's Episcopal Church with burial folloingw in Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jay Brantley, Berry Bowman, Weston Vidaurri, J.T. Phillips, Chuck Lundeen and Charles Lundeen III.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Shannon Brownfield and Dr. Mahlon Maris.
