Vivian Bickerton, age 83 a 40 year resident of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 in Jasper, Arkansas.
She was born March 9, 1928 in Hot Springs, Arkansas the daughter of Henry and Sadie Burton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernie Bickerton; and a brother, Leon Burton.
Vivian is survived by her son, Andy Guiles and his family, Lisa, Eric and Zach of Harrison; her daughter, Libby Rhoden and her family, George, Coby, Patrick, and Elizabeth all of Friendswood, Texas; and her son, Skipper Kehoe and his daughter, Kara of Corpus Christi, Texas; four great-grandchildren and several cousins. She is also survived by her best friend, Spike Williams.
Vivian inspired thousands to dance. After of her first two children, Skipper (1947) and Libby (1950), Vivian opened her first dance studio in Texas City, Texas. She taught dance in Baytown, Pasadena and Houston as well. After the birth of their second son, Andy (1962) in Baytown, Texas the family moved to Harrison, Arkansas. Vivian taught dance in Harrison, Eureka Springs, Huntsville, and at Harrison Community College.
Vivian inspired thousands of young people to dance in Texas and Arkansas.
Vivian will be missed by all her family and many friends.
Cremation and arrangements are being handled by Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
There was a memorial service Thursday, February 16, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Harrison with Pastor Jane Huffstetler officiating.
Vivian's ashes will be placed in the church columbarium following the service.
